Save Oregon Wrestling 2008 With the live broadcast of the Pac-10 wrestling tournament on the web, the fans who watched the matches totaled more than 17,000! This last week has been a whirlwind of activity and excitement as more and more supporters of Save Oregon Wrestling are donating and volunteering to help save our sport. Recent news from the UO administration indicates they admit their claims regarding Title IX were unjustified and wrong. Their statement said "Contrary to common belief, the decision to remove wrestling is not a Title IX issue; Oregon qualifies for Title IX under history of expansion of opportunities for women, which doesn't require removing men's sports." ...As we all know, this is a contradiction to their earlier statement and position on the subject since last July. But what we need now is a donor base. The UO has already given us a foot in the door, and they believe we cannot generate enough donors to pull this off. That is why we need you to do whatever you can to help, now. Let's prove them wrong! We have set up an escrow account so that you would feel comfortable donating what you can, and in case the program did not move forward, you would receive your donation back. As early as the conclusion of the NCAA wrestling tournament, the UO Administration could make a public statement that the wrestling program has ended. You may "request" your donation to be refunded, at that time. However, our plan is to continue to grow our endowment for the next 3 years, so that the next athletic director would reinstate the program and the program would be self-sufficient. If this doesn't happen, our efforts may discontinue and all escrow donations would be returned at that time. We really need your support, now. Donate $180, or $15 monthly installments, today, and I'll send you the classic tie-dyed tee shirt, as seen on national news, and worn by our UO wrestlers on the Kesey bus "Further" during a recent demonstration opposing the UO's decision to drop wrestling. But you must make your donation today. If you choose to donate into our "escrow" account, and if the program did not move forward, we would retain $35 to cover our expenses for the T-shirt. Donate $300 or more, or $25 monthly installments, today, and I'll have Zane Kesey's signature imprinted on the back of the T-shirt, with the slogan "Get on the Bus."
